Development economist with extensive experience providing technical assistance in the preparation of human development reports, poverty reduction strategy papers, and tracking the progress of the MDGs. Served as a Senior Economic Advisor at the International Poverty Centre, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Brasilia, and led several UN policy and programme evaluation missions in countries such as Brunei Darussalam, Botswana, Nepal, and Somalia. As a Senior Trainer, designed, developed, and conducted a workshop on "Food Policy Analysis," sponsored by the FAO, IFPRI, and the Government of Bangladesh, for academicians and policymakers in Bangladesh.

With over 25 years of teaching and research experience, has served as a consultant for the ADB, OECD, UNDP, and World Bank, and provided technical assistance (via UN missions) to governments in developing countries, including Bangladesh, Botswana, Brazil, Brunei Darussalam, India, Nepal, Puntland, Somaliland, South Central Somalia, and Vietnam.
