Dr. Abdinasir Hirsi is an electrical and telecommunications engineering researcher, university lecturer, and cybersecurity expert based in Somalia. He holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering, specialising in Communication Engineering, from Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM), where he graduated with a CGPA of 4.0. He is a Lecturer in the Department of Telecommunication Engineering at East Africa University (EAU), Bosaso, and the Founder and Director of AiNetSec Lab, an independent AI and cybersecurity research laboratory.
He is also a Research Fellow at the Somali Institute for Development Research and Analysis (SIDRA). His research focuses on artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, software-defined networking (SDN), Internet of Things (IoT) security, and machine learning-based detection and mitigation of cyber threats. He has published extensively in internationally recognised peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings, including IEEE publications, and has supervised undergraduate research projects in telecommunications, networking, and cybersecurity.
