Akshata Singh is an accomplished legal professional with expertise in various areas of law, including innovation, technology, and cyber law. She is currently pursuing an LL.M. in Innovation, Technology, and the Law from Edinburgh Law School, where her focus areas include Robotics and AI, Space Law, and Human-Computer Interaction. Additionally, she holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Cyber Law and Cyber Forensics from the National Law School of India University.
Akshata has gained valuable experience throughout her professional journey. She was honored with the Jean and Jack Wasserman Industry Development Scholarship by Edinburgh Law School, enabling her to pursue research as a Visiting Scholar and Researcher at the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT) in Rome, Italy. At UNIDROIT, she conducted research on international trade contracts and how Distributed Ledger Technology can be leveraged to provide access to trade finance in third-world countries. She has also been involved in managing international arbitration cases, particularly in the fields of commodity sale contracts and construction disputes.
In her previous roles, Akshata has worked with esteemed organizations such as the Supreme Court of India, the Cyber Peace Foundation, and Trilegal, a reputed law firm in India. Her experience includes conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, and representing clients in legal proceedings involving diverse and complex areas of law, including electricity and telecom disputes, and cyber law. She has also worked on intermediary liability and digital rights as a researcher with the Columbia Global Freedom of Expression Project at the prestigious Columbia University.
Akshata has received recognition for her work. She was commended for her research with the CyberPeace Foundation in India and was awarded the Dean’s Scholarship by the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School to pursue her LL.M.
