Annual Summer Dialogues
This annual high-level forum is organized in Somalia during the summer period around July/ August bringing together policy makers, researchers, academics, business community, religious and traditional leaders and civil society to debate practical solutions to Somalia’s challenges. This successful event has become unmissable annual forum to present knowledge and research, influential ideas and insight on important topics for Somalia and the Horn of Africa region. It gives an opportunity to civil society groups and the wider public to meet the political and business leaders who are impossible to get hold of, ask questions and exchange ideas.
Garowe International Book Fair
An annual event that promotes literacy, Somali literature and cultural values and showcases the work of young emerging writers, poets, and artists. It brings together wide spectrum of participants including authors, artists, poets, linguists, motivational speakers, playwrights, scholars, policy makers, activists, readers as well government’s officials from across Somali territories and around world. Over one thousand people attended the event and many more followed it online.
Women in Global Health Leadership Conference, Somalia Chapter
SIDRA facilitated the first conference for Women in Global Health (WGH), Somalia Chapter. The event is planned to be an annual platform upon which the plight of women and girls in accessing quality health care and facilities in Somalia can be discussed in order to propose best health practices.
Puntland Investment Forum & Expo 2019
The first annual event was organized by SIDRA for the Government of Puntland to bring together leading International and Somali/Puntland decision makers, business leaders, investors, and entrepreneurs to dialogue and transact on bankable investment opportunities in Puntland State. Three hundred people including international foreign investors, multi-national companies and representatives of governments interested in direct foreign investment in Somalia attended the event.
Puntland Cabinet Retreat
SIDRA facilitated a three days retreat for new cabinet of Puntland government in March 2019 to review government plans, set the policies and priorities for the new government in the coming 5 years. SIDRA provided technical support, using modern planning methodologies, tools and technologies, expertise and insight, to outline and prepare the new government action plan and define parameters for performance and service delivery by setting measurable indicators and benchmarks.
